Festive Mess Mix

Emotions seem to run a bit more intensely in December. Feelings of happiness and unity are awkwardly balanced with those of isolation and obligation. Celebration is mixed with reflections about the end of another year, and all the possibilities of the next are suspended on a dusty horizon.

This mix is a festive toast to comfortable company, and some of the best cooking and baking I’ve ever eaten in my life. This really has been an excellent ‘winter season.’
